Windbreaker Set Size Guide: How Should a Tracksuit Fit?

Orbit Set Arctic White white windbreaker set with red logo by Full Circle

A windbreaker set should feel relaxed, not tight. The jacket needs room to layer a hoodie underneath, and the pants should fall straight with a little stack at the ankle. Here is how to get your size right.

How a windbreaker set should fit

  • Shoulders: a dropped, roomy shoulder is normal on a relaxed set.
  • Chest: enough room to zip it over a hoodie.
  • Sleeves: end at the wrist; elastic cuffs hold them in place.
  • Waist: the elastic drawstring waist sits comfortably without a belt.
  • Leg: straight and wide, resting on your sneakers.

How to measure

  1. Lay a jacket that fits you well flat and measure it the same way as the chart: chest straight across under the arms, body length from the top of the shoulder to the hem, sleeve from the shoulder seam to the cuff.
  2. For the pants, start with your usual waist size in inches and compare the inseam to a pair of pants you like.
  3. Pick the size whose numbers are closest to your own garments.

Between sizes?

The set fits true to size with a relaxed cut. If you are between sizes, size up for a roomier fit, or stay with your usual size for a cleaner one. Taller? The longer inseam on L and XL helps.
